Lawyers for free trade zones in the Dominican Republic
Free trade zones are the country's export platform: manufacturing, medical devices, tobacco, textiles, call centers and services. We set the company up, obtain its permit and keep it compliant with the CNZFE and Customs.
The Law 8-90 regime
Law 8-90 on the Promotion of Free Trade Zones grants companies established in authorized parks full exemption from income tax, ITBIS, duties on raw materials, equipment and machinery, and other taxes, for fifteen renewable years. The National Council of Export Free Trade Zones (CNZFE) grants establishment and operating permits, and the Dirección General de Aduanas administers the special customs regime.
We advise park operators and user companies, Dominican and foreign, on the permit application, company formation, contracts with the park, customs compliance and employment obligations, and on the sales to the local market the law allows.
- Establishment and operating permit applications before the CNZFE
- Company formation and lease agreements with the park
- Customs regime: exempt imports, inventory control and local market sales
- Tax compliance and reporting to the CNZFE and the DGII
- Employment, internal regulations and Labor Code compliance
- Customs bonds and operational insurance
- Restructurings, transfers between parks and cessation of operations
- International group structuring and transfer pricing
Service companies and call centers
The regime extends to export services such as contact centers, software development, shared services and logistics. We structure these operations with attention to hiring, data protection under Law 172-13 and contracts with foreign clients.
Foreign investors
Manufacturers from the United States, Europe and Asia setting up in the country receive from one team the formation, the permit, the investment registration, the contracts and the residency of their executives, with communication in English with the parent company.
